Former President Shri Ramnath Kovind presents Shaurya Chakra to Rifleman Ajveer singh Chauhan, 6th Battalion, Garhwal Rifles. He displayed raw couragbe, presence of mind and with utter disregard to personal safety neutralised two terrorists and successfully eliminated the infitration bid in J&K on 18th august, 2018. Shaurya Chakra The third-highest peacetime gallantry award in India, ranking below the Param Vir Chakra and the maha Vir Chakra. The Shaurya Chakra was established on 4th January 1952, and it is awarded for extraordinary acts of bravery and valour in the face of th enemy or while performing duties related to national security. The Shaurya Chakra is represented by a circular bronze medal with a diameter of 1.4 inches. On the observe side, it bears the Ashoka Chakra, which a surrounded by a sweath of lotus leaves. The reverse side contains the words ?Shaurya Chakra? in both Hindi and English. Receiving the Shaurya Chakra is a signficant honour and recognition of the recipiendt?s exceptional bravery and dedication to duty. It serves as a symbol of the nation?s gratitude and respect for their selfless service and sacrifices.
